Leona Cairns, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, aged care worker, voluntary community worker, and lover of the Lord.
I grew up in a very secure and well ordered family. From four years I went to the local Methodist Sunday school and it was there that I learnt about stories from the Bible and how Jesus loved me. I believe I owe a great debt to those devoted Sunday school teachers because their teaching has been with me all my life.
There certainly have been times when I have wandered away from God and been too busy to include Him in my life. But in 1992 I recommitted my life to Jesus and made Him the centre of my life.
When I look back on the many events that have occurred in my life, I can see that God has always been there, guiding and helping me through the very difficult times of illness, death, unemployment and continuing serious illnesses. I love reading the Bible. Two verses, which sustain me, are John 3; 16: For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. And Romans 8:28: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him and have been called according to his purpose.
I now worship at an Uniting Church and live with my husband in one of the most beautiful parts of God's world. I praise God for His never failing patience with me and the privilege to share my thoughts and beliefs in
Just a Minute.
