As a boy I always loved the stories of
the Bible. In Primary School there was a very dedicated
Christian teacher who taught me for three years and
her most interesting lesson each day was Scripture.
I can thank her for sowing in me the seed of my love
of the things of God.
Yet in spite of all my education in things scriptural
and regular church attendance over many years, I did
not really understand the magnitude of what Jesus Christ
had done for me so that I could have a place with Him
for eternity. I was well into my 40s. when I accepted
Jesus as my personal Saviour. This was the great turning
point in my life and I have rejoiced ever since in my
walk with Him.
Today, my wife Pat and I live "hectic retirement".
We attend the Presbyterian Church where we are both
lay preachers and during the week teach Scripture in
schools.
Folk who do not know us, when hearing that I am retired
say, "But how do you fill your day? Aren't you
bored? "
I reply, " There is no chance of that. God has
other plans!"
